You've always heard that you should make your money work for you, meaning you invest it and earn interest while you just sit back and do nothing. Well, now you can make your website work for you.

The easiest way to make money with your website is by running advertising on it. You can either sell advertising space yourself, which can work very well if you have an established site with lot of traffic. If you don't have a lot of traffic, or time to sell your own ad space, you can use one of the many paid per click (PPC) advertising programs that are available now.

Google's AdSense is by far the most popular PPC program you can join. Like all legitimate PPC programs, it is free to join. But you aren't limited to just AdSense. There are many AdSense alternatives, and no doubt more will spring up in time. One of the easiest and most popular AdSense alternatives is AdBrite.

If PPC really isn't your thing, or if you want to kick PPC earnings up a notch, you can also join affiliate programs and plaster them all over your site. Amazon offers the best known affiliate program. An alternative to Amazon is WidgetBucks.

If websites really aren't your thing, you can always start blogging. Blogs are huge right now and so easy to do. You can blog about anything. You might want to set up a blog to advertise your business or referral link. You could also blog about something that interests you. If you're a bird watcher, blog about birds. If you're a good cook, blog about your recipes and cooking tips. You get the idea.

Once you have a blog, you can monetize it with advertising. AdSense and Adsense alternatives like AdBrite and WidgetBucks can be placed on blogs just like they can websites. In fact, AdSense is super easy to incorporate into a blogger,com blog because Google owns both. Google allows you to utilize their blogging template tools to easily insert you AdSense ad, completely bypassing the need to work with html code.

If you are a good writer, there are companies out there that will pay you to make blog posts. One of the best known of these types of companies is Pay Per Post.

Make Money With GPT Sites

I've personally had a very good experience with GPTs. And currently most of my monthly income comes from various GPTs. If you're new to GPTs, it stands for get paid to and these sites will pay you to do everything from view 30 second ads to read emails. Most require you to complete offers that are rather annoying I must admit, but I'm not complaining because I get paid for doing them!

You might wonder why these sites are willing to pay you for your time. It's all about advertising. Companies know that most people ignore television commercials. Now with DVRs, many people just fast-forward commercials so they don't get seen at all. So, companies are willing to pay to get your attention for a couple minutes. These companies pay GPT sites to run their offers (which are really their ads) and then the GPT sites pays you a portion of their advertising profits. It really is a win-win situation...everyone gets paid.

Make Money With Paid Surveys 

You Really Can Get Paid to Answer Surveys

For me, earning money from paid surveys has been going a little slower than with GPT sites. The money doesn't add up quite as fast with paid surveys as it does with GPTs, but they aren't as annoying.

Paid survey sites require you to sign up for a free account, give a valid email address, and complete a profile. They then email you surveys that fit your profile (are you a mom, boat owner, etc). You can choose to take any or all of the surveys they email you.

The catch with survey sites is many of the surveys reward you with a sweepstakes entry (which would be awesome if you won) instead of money. But, they are legit and someone really does win the sweepstakes. Just be sure (as with any money making site) that you read the FAQ section and the terms of service to see how you will be compensated for your time.

Thanks to the internet, you are no longer limited to being published by a publishing house if you want to get paid to write. I love writing, but still do not have an agent and I've had my children's book rejected by many publishing houses. That, however, doesn't stop me from profiting from my writing skills.

There are many options to writing online for money. There are e-zines, which are essentially online magazines, that you can write articles for. There are sites that you can write customer reviews for and get paid. There are all sorts of different options to get paid to write that are available on the internet.

You can do a Google search on get paid to blog or get paid to write and get a ton of results. I try out only the opportunities that are free and at first I just do the bare minimum to cashout. If the site actually pays, then I spend more time with it.

Pay Per Post is a trusted company that really pays it's bloggers. Your blog must have 10 new posts within the past month before they will accept it into the program. Once you are accepted, you can choose writing assignments.

I received my first PayPal payment from Ciao! last month, so I know they pay as well. Ciao! is a review site. You join for free, choose products and websites you have experience with and review them. People rate your reviews as helpful or not. They more helpful your ranking the more you get paid. I made $7.95 the first week I was with them for writing just 5 short little reviews. I invested 15 minutes of my time and made a quick $7.95, so I really like Ciao!

Another well known site that pays you to write is Associated Content. What is so great about this site is you write articles or short stories and get paid for the number of times your article is read. You can write about anything you want to. Write about your passion. Write about your experiences. The sky's the limit with this site.

Make Money With Squidoo 

Do You Squidoo? You Should!

Of course you can't read a Squidoo lens about making money online and not expect to see something about making money with Squidoo. Are you new to Squidoo? Making money with it is super simple.

Squidoo provides a free service that allows its users to create lenses. In my opinion, they look better and read better than blogs. They are smaller than a website, but usually bigger than a webpage. All Squidoo user accounts are free. All the user provides is content.

Squidoo users get to create many, many lenses. Squidoo then places Google AdSense ads on the lenses. The ads, just like if you had your own AdSense account, match your site's content. So, they should be ads that interest your visitors. Squidoo then gives you 50% of the ad revenue all of your lenses generate. Squidoo keeps 45% for themselves and gives 5% to charity.

The best part about Squidoo is that Google loves Squidoo lenses. When people Google a topic, squidoo lenses that relate to the topic are bound to show up in the top pages of the search result. So, Squidoo is a great way to make money with PPC advertising without having to deal with placing ad code and meta tags yourself.

I bought "The Secret" on DVD after hearing about it on Oprah. Oprah attributes the law of attraction to her success. She says what you dwell on is what you become, and it makes a lot of sense.
